Stop Motion of Daddy and the Girl

While going through some photos, I noticed that some of the beach shots were almost suitable for a little animation. This is a simple experiment stacking 150 or so of the photos on top of each other.

The Dumbest Pastime in the World

When I was a kid, around the time Woodstock happened, my parents bought me a guitar for Christmas. And then one of the GI's didn't have room for his Fender Showman amplifier so he let me hold on to it until he got transferred out (about a year). I took guitar lessons & got reasonably ok

On weekends, a bunch of us would get together at the AYA (youth center), packing our guitars & drums & mikes & whatever else we had & start jamming. Mostly 12 bars and popular songs at the time. We weren't that good, but people would get up and dance, shout & generally have a good time. I look back on those days with nostalgia.

John , Mike, Tom and Monte

So this weekend, when I walked through the living room and heard a bunch of clicking and clacking, I saw all these people staring at a tv, holding a bunch of plastic facsimiles of musical instruments, acting like they were playing real music. There are no strings on the plastic guitar facsimiles, only five big plastic buttons. The drums looked like real electronic drums, but they wouldn't make any drum sounds. No one dancing or anything, just watching the tv. I simply don't have words to compare what they were doing with what we were doing 35 years ago

I wonder if in 35 years, these guys are going to look back with nostalgia at the rocking and rolling they were doing with a bunch of no talent Chinese plastic.

The Brenda Photo Challenge

The Brenda Photo Challenge is a very good idea for people who share an interest photography to get together & share photos and ideas. My problem is there was simply too much going on to really get down & do a food shot. So, off to the archives I go to see if I have anything resembling food shot in the last few months.

And up pops the Oregon trip. The baby of the family (Chris) was able to take a trip to Eugene to see mother & Clay. So the rest of the kids who were able decided to go up there also. We'd have a big cookout & have fun outside on Clay's deck.

Not much more to say about this one.

Morning on the Highway

Just before the California border while we were going through this mountain range, I saw this. I wish we could have stopped & I got a sharper photo but I'm sure that by the time we did stop and I got set up, the lighting would be gone.

Runway Model Falling Down

I know this clip is old; I know I'm being mean and could end up in hell, but I laugh my arse off every time I see it!

Daddy and the Girl

On the way to San Diego, we stopped to stretch for a bit. Daddy & the Girl had to check out this empty lot.

Emily Sleeping at the Beach

After spending several hours playing on the beach, Emily simply couldn't keep her eyes open anymore

Nicole & John's Wedding

Here's one shot of the wedding ceremony. I have many photos to look at including the pro shots, so I'll post more later. I also notice that even though I had my camera on a tripod shooting timed photos, I couldn't get by without pulling out the phone & shooting.

The President's address to Students

If you haven't seen the address that the President gave to young people, you really should. I know it's directed at people still in school, but his advice really pertains to all of us. I vaguely remember hearing this kind of speech when I was in England, but I don't remember who gave it. It certainly wasn't the president, I think it was a counselor or someone like that. I would have much rather heard the president give it, I probably would have tried harder when I was in school.
